Spencer Alley (The Sleeper)

Most days this same man spends the day sleeping on the sidewalk at the entrance to Spencer Alley. By late afternoon he is usually gone.

Poking out of his shopping cart are two sticks of scrap wood. Each stick has a work-glove stuck on top of it. Hanging from each stick are numerous paper grocery bags full of empty bottles and cans.

Indian Summer is over, and the air is suddenly nippy. Autumn is here and the fog has returned.
