Patriotic Petunias



Fed the roses today and did some general gardening – but the only flowers consenting to be photographed were these brazen petunias.

After tearing out some old nasturtium vines and dumping them into the green bin, I found this walking stick on the lawn. I must have dislodged it. At first I tried to photograph the insect on the grass, and avoid disturbing it, but that proved impossible because the walking stick's built-in camouflage baffled the camera completely. So I put it gently on the chair for a moment, to photograph (not very successfully) against the red, and then set it inside a thick bed of daisies. There was a visible glow of benevolence surrounding this creature, it seemed to me.. I
